The Lammas Ecovillage is a collective of smallholdings and eco-dwellings in Preseli hills, North Pembrokeshire. Its inhabitants practice low impact, off-grid living, with buildings constructed from natural materials and renewable energy. The residents describe themselves as combining traditional farming and building techniques with the latest innovations in environmental design, green technology and permaculture. It received planning permission in 2009, and since then has inspired many more people in Wales and beyond to explore living in an ecovillage or small holding, partly through helping to develop the Welsh Government’s ‘One Planet Development’ policy. Parts of the site received funding from the Government Department for Energy and Climate Change.
