A researcher at the University of Exeter conducted a study on the development of community energy schemes in the UK compared to Germany. The research involved 35 interviews of actors representing communities, community energy networks, and policy-makers, most of which were located in the southwest of the UK. The interviews took place between July 2010 – October 2011. 20 out of the 35 interviews were included in the analysis of the study. The following key theme areas were identified following analysis of interview data: feed-in tariff and community energy; planning; finance and investment; intermediaries in the diffusion process; and replicability and knock-on effects.
